In addition to the core Integrated Engineering courses, students must take complementary studies courses totalling at least 20 credits. Some of these courses are built into the IGEN Standard Timetables, but others are up to students to identify and register on their own, or in consultation with Engineering Student Services.
The minimum requirements are described on the website hosted by UBC Engineering Student Services.
These will include courses currently in the following categories:
- Professional development,
- Communication,
- Engineering Economics
- Impact of Engineering on Society, Sustainability, and Environmental Stewardship.
- Humanities and Social Sciences.
Note that for IGEN students, any of the approved Engineering Economics courses offered by any other engineering program are allowed for credit.
Please refer to the UBC ESS Complementary Studies webpage for up-to-date information about the program, as these requirements are updated periodically.
* Note: In the event of a disagreement between the information on this webpage and the online UBC Calendar, the UBC Calendar should be followed as it is the official description of the program.
