Integrated Engineering
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus invites applications for a part-time, 50%, sessional lecturer to teach IGEN 430 001/L0A Advanced Engineering Design Project for term one and two (September 1 to April 30, 2025). IGEN 430 is a course offered within the Faculty of Applied Science by Integrated Engineering It is subscribed by 4rd year Integrated Engineering students. This is a core course in the Integrated Engineering (IGEN) Program that will focus mainly on projects involving all material in the curriculum of the Integrated Engineering Program. Students will be expected to propose a project and complete the design and construction of a prototype.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position involves preparing and giving a one-hour lecture once per week and a three-hour lab each week during the first term for one section. The course runs from September 3 to April 8, 2025. The instructor will prepare tutorials and run labs. It is the responsibility of the instructor to maintain an interactive learning environment in which all students are involved. This typically involves posing thought-provoking questions to students as well as answering questions posed by students. The instructor will need to be available to students outside of normal classroom hours to answer questions. The instructor is responsible to maintain records of grades and to submit final grades in a timely fashion to the Department office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have a degree in Engineering and proven evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience in teaching is an asset.
Salary will be $7000 for the period.
